Weird Places to Visit in Florida

There are many reasons to visit the state of Florida. From the miles of white sandy beaches to the theme parks, it may be your destination of choice.

However, you shouldn’t sell yourself short when visiting Florida. Take some time out of your schedule to visit some of the many places that make the Sunshine State one of the most unique in the entire country.

Here are some of the weirdest (and most interesting) places to visit in Florida:

1. The World’s Smallest Post Office: Ochopee, Florida

You don’t expect a post office to look like this. Located in Ochopee, Florida, you’ll find the smallest post office in the world. It came into existence in1953 when an old farm shed was turned into an emergency post office after the original one burned down. It may not be big, but it’s a huge tourist attraction.

2. Spook Hill: Lake Wales, Florida

Are you ready for a good scare? If so, check out Spook Hill in Lake Wales. No one really knows what it is, but it’s sure to thrill you. Get this: if you put your car in neutral as you reach the bottom of Spook Hill, it’ll appear to roll up the hill.

3. Dome Homes: Cape Romano, Florida

Located on Cape Romano, in close proximity to Marco Island, these “dome homes” are part of what was once a home. Each of the domes was a different room in the home. Unfortunately, Hurricane Andrew severely damaged the home in the 90s, leaving what you see now as the only remains.

4. Skeletons: Museum of Osteology: Orlando, Florida

When you’re not spending time at Disney World, check out everything this museum has to offer. It’s a great place for adults and children alike to spend the day. There are hundreds of skeletons that have been carefully put together.

5. World Erotic Art Museum: Miami Beach, Florida

It’s not a family activity, but the World Erotic Art Museum is an interesting place for adults to visit. With more than 4,000 adult-themed art pieces from all around the world, you can spend hours here and still not see everything.

So, there you have it. As you can see, Florida has a lot more to offer than warm weather, world class beaches, and Disney World. Take some time to check out these weird places the next time you visit!
