1. Bonita Beach Dog Beach

To the north of Naples, you’ll find Bonita Beach Dog Beach. You can bring your pet to the only dog beach in the area where dogs can be off-leash at all times throughout the day.

Found between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach, this beach is recognized by the Parks and Recreation of Lee County, but it offers few amenities or facilities. There are portable toilets instead of restrooms, but a dog rinsing station makes it easy to get the sand off your pooch before you leave.

There are a few rules. You have to be at least 15 years old in order to bring your dog, and you can’t bring more than two. Children who are under five can’t go into the area where dogs are allowed off-leash. Non-spayed, non-neutered, sick or aggressive dogs aren’t allowed on the beach.

Bonita Dog Beach is open between dawn and dusk.

2. Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park

Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is also conveniently found in northern Naples. Even though dogs don’t have full rein at this park, your dog will be able to go and frolic in the water.

Note that you’re not allowed to walk a dog on the beach at this park, even if it’s on a leash. Instead, humans and their pets should head to the canoe and boat launch area, where dogs can swim in the waters of Turkey Bay. You’re going to have to wade in as well, since you have to keep your dog on a leash at all times.

This park is located off of Gulfshore Drive. To get there, go west on Immokalee Road, toward the coast. You’ll see the beach to your left.

3. Keeywadin Island

Keeywadin Island is a sanctuary for wildlife and recreation that lies just south of Naples city. The 8-mile-long barrier island is one of southwest Florida’s largest unbridged islands, and it’s accessible only via the Hemingway Water Shuttle, which, luckily, is pet-friendly.

Please note that dogs are allowed on the beach at Keeywadin Island, but they must be leashed. There are no facilities on the island, including restrooms.

If you want to experience an unspoiled stretch of Florida coastline, this is a great place to do it. The beaches here are a great place to find shells.
